Interview: Oodles of Pincushions !

Interview: Oodles of Pincushions !

~by me, myself and I; the author of this blog :)   My name is Cheri Hage. I sew items and sell in an Etsy shop, “Oodles of Whimsy”. Most of the shop is a variety of Pincushions.  My husband (Rick) and I also sell pincushions on our wholesale website, “Oodles of Pincushions”. We create what we refer to as, “oodles” of pincushions (that’s where the names came from). This is a hobby and cottage industry; I work at home.

What part of the craft/hobby do you like best ?

It is hard for me to define what is the most enjoyable part of this endeavor. I absolutely LOVE picking out fabrics, so shopping for the “supplies” is very enjoyable. The down-side is that it is difficult to find proportionately correct tiny prints that work well for our Finger Pincushions so it can be frustrating. Of course, there’s always the danger of being side-tracked by discovering fun, new fabrics that  I have no business looking at but there they are, just waiting for me.

Interview: Antique Furniture Refinisher, “The Chair Guy”

Interview: Antique Furniture Refinisher, “The Chair Guy”

I had the pleasure of chatting with Rick Hage of Goshen, Indiana. He is a talented craftsman, great Father and wonderful Husband (to me). He enjoys working with his hands. Though he works in the commercial printing business (day job), he has always taken the time to explore a variety of side jobs and hobbies. Past interests he enjoyed are mountain climbing, camping and hiking. He also dabbles in Blacksmithing and has given demonstrations at Pioneer Day Festivals locally. One of his earlier hobbies is refinishing Antique furniture. This has become a “paying hobby” or small cottage industry. I want to add; Rick picked this Blue color for the text today :)

Interview: Website Designer, Builder & Graphics Guy

Interview: Website Designer, Builder & Graphics Guy

My First Victim or Interview #1

*I am typing this in black because the subject of this interview prefers life to be neat, tidy and in no-nonsense black :)

Tim is a website builder and designer. He also does incredible graphics work. I know this from experience as he put together our website and this blog. He also was the one who formatted my book to be printer-ready. He is a whiz on computers, takes awesome photos and videos and he is adored by his toddler nephew.

His company website is: http://www.splitwebdesign.com/  There are two owners of the site. Tim is in the US, Daz is in the UK. These two work together on projects through the internet and occasionally by text and VOIP.

About the Interviews….

About the Interviews….

I have a curious personality. ~My family would totally endorse that statement. Okay, I admit I’m “different”. But what I meant was, I have a generous amount of curiosity. I am an observer, a listener and I ask a lot of questions. I love to discover details, stuff that goes on behind the scenes. I want to find out what makes things work, what motivates someone and what they eat for breakfast. Because I’m curious that way.

My goal is to interview people who have a story to tell. Folks with small businesses. I want to pick their brain and get them to share some of their story.

If you have a hobby or business, like to make a craft, run an Etsy shop or website and wish to be considered for a future feature here, please contact me.
